Professor Asher Tishler

Asher Tishler received his B.A. in Economics and Statistics (magna cum laude) from the Hebrew University, Israel, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

He was a faculty member of Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Management from 1976 to 2014 and president of the College of Management from 2014 to 2017. 

 

Professor Tishler's main research topics focus on applied microeconomics, models of research and development, energy economics and defense-related issues. His articles have been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Econometrics, Research Policy, the Energy Journal, Energy Economics, Defence and Peace Economics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, Management Science, the Journal of the American Statistical Association, the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, the European Economic Review, Energy Policy,

the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Strategic Management Journal, Operations Research,

and more.

 

During his tenure at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Management he served as dean (2007-2014), academic director of the Executive MBA program and the Kellogg-Recanati international MBA program (2000-2003), academic director of Lahav Executive Education (1995-1998), director of the Israel Institute of Business Research (1991-1994), and head of the Economics-Management Department (1986-1988). During 2006-2010 he served as director of the Institute of Technology and Society, and during 2006-2014 he was director of the Eli Hurvitz Institute of Strategic Management.

 

Professor Tishler has consulted with the Ministry of Defense (Israel), the IDF, the Israel Electric Corporation, the Ministry of National Infrastructures (Israel), and several firms in Israel and abroad.
